Feb 2015 Sea Trout time again.

Another nice bag

Three fish on the bank out of a four fish bag, one returned. Two fish at two lbs each and a three pounder, beautiful conditioned fish all taken from the salt either side of high tide. Filleted and fried, you cant get a finer fish for the dinner table. Its important to pay attention to your line with this fishing, make sure its tip top and change it regularly as these fish put up a fierce fight and the possibility of fish in the 5lb+ category is always there. I use 8/9lb bs and change it a couple of times a season.

Another bag of Sea Trout

It was about twenty minutes after casting out the first bait that the left hand rod rattled. I checked it and felt for the fish but it had dropped the bait and must have backed off. I resettled the rod in the rest and waited for another five minutes before the fish grabbed the bait again and made off.  This time I had him and after a strong fight and in the net , he pulled the scales to 2.75lbs, a very nice prime conditioned Trout from an estuary, near you.  The best of three fish in a short session leading up to high tide.

The view at Loch Laidon

17th May, paddled into Loch Laidon, and set up camp in the bay full of islands. The scenery was spectacular with fresh snow on the mountains but the fishing was very disappointing. The trout seem to mainly run to around six inches in length which gets a bit tiring after a while. There are some ferox in the loch and perhaps it might be possible to connect with one of the bigger ones once the weather heats up a little. Anyway three days was enough followed by pushing my canoe back up the River Ba to Loch Ba and then home

First one this August

It's not a silver fish but it is fresh into the river. Its maybe been sitting in the tidal water for some time, marks from sea lice were evident below the vent, all the same its not in the same condition as the fish i got at end of May.
A Brownie from the Clyde

Decided to fish the Clyde for Salmon this year, although i have been warned that a lot of it is combat fishing. I guess it depends when you fish but on my second visit i hit this 4lb 7 oz Brownie. A shame to take it, although it will be well appreciated, i like fried trout. Thought i was into my first Clyde Salmon, what a surprise.
Forget about Rowbank

14lb Spring Salmon, from the Black Cart at end May 2011. Stunning fight, super fresh, a privilege to catch.
